Linda Anne Altobellis, 78, of Wilmington NC passed away peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Linda was much loved by her family and many friends. She never met a stranger and was the life of every party.
Linda is survived by her sister-in-law Lucy Altobellis and great-nephew Miles Altobellis, both of Charlotte NC. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Anne Altobellis, brother Tommy Altobellis and nephew Joe Altobellis.
Linda was fun loving, gregarious, vivacious, loyal and very caring. Her presence made every day better and more fun. Miles Altobellis was the light and love of her life from the moment he was born. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, UNCW basketball, playing with her dog Duke, and helping her boss Ken Braswell. She was a faithful caregiver and friend to Laura and Ken Braswell for 11 years.
Linda spent many years employed in the car industry, working for Mike and Sherry Rhyne at Southport Motor Cars and at Rippy Cadillac for her good friend Fred Rippy.
She was a long-time nanny for Fred and Jane Rippy's children, Louise Rippy Lane and James Rippy who she adored.
A special thanks from Lucy to Linda's dear friends Margaret Mayo, Emmie Bullard, Paula Sneeden, Jane Rippy, Louise Lane and Ken Braswell for their help and support and for all they meant to Linda.
A Celebration of Linda's Life has been re-scheduled for 2pm Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Andrews Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.

Linda was such a wonderful person, and she will be missed by all that knew her. She was always so kind to me, especially after I moved back to Wilmington as a single mother. I'm sure others that knew Linda had similar experiences and feelings about her. I knew her most of my life, but it wasn't until we were adults that we became friends. And she was one of the most loyal friends anyone could ask for! Her absence at the UNCW games will leave a void. Rest in peace, dear Linda. Your loved ones hold you in their hearts and prayers. ❤

Linda was a fun loving and kind lady. I remember one night in the 1970s we decided to call Margaret Mitchellto find out how long it really took her to write Gone With the Windback when you could call directory assistance!! When she answered I thought Linda would faintand then all we could do was laugh! I don’t remember what Margaret Mitchell said!!
So many adventures and I was not a close Wilmington friendjust joyous.

Very saddened to hear about Linda’s passing. We worked and played together at Rippy Cadillac for many years in the “good ole days”. Linda was always willing to do whatever was needed to help others and her laugh was a trademark. She never met a stranger and her devotion to friends and family was loving trait. I will miss seeing Linda out in the community at various events and always happy and laughing. She will be missed. Rest well my friend.

I hate to hear this. Linda was my next door neighbor recently for a few years. I can still hear her infectious laugh. She was so excited once she got Duke and he definitely kept her on her toes! RIP Linda
