Ollie Bearden Obituary

Funeral services for Ollie Christine Doster Bearden, age 93 of Downsville, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 2, 2026 at Holmesville Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Houck and Bro. Kelly Doster officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Downsville, LA under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

Christine was born June 15, 1932 to Louis Alexander Doster, Sr. and Mattie Mae Ruby Doster in Spearsville, LA. She was the fourth of 11 children, eight of whom lived to be grown and have children. Christine married James Everette Bearden October 11, 1952 in Union Parish, LA. They had three children. She was a child of God who loved people and her family. Christine loved to fish, sew, quilt, sing, and dance. She enjoyed lap quilting and made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. She also loved traveling and just looking at what God had created. Christine would sing in churches and nursing homes. On a couple of occasions, she and two of her sisters would put on their Charleston dance dresses and dance where ever they could. Christine just loved life.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband James Everette Bearden; and her siblings, Marvin Lee Doster, Roy Anthony Doster, Loyelle Doster, Martha Doster Elliott, Alice Lucille Doster Pinckard, and Louis Alexander Doster, Jr. "Tiny". 

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Ruby Jean Taylor and Herman Colvin Doster (Barbara); children, Donna Kay Bearden Alford (Donny Kevin Alford, Sr.), John Everette Bearden, and DeLane Bearden (Monica Washam Bearden); her niece  who was like a daughter, Ruth Ann Baker Bailey; grandchildren, Donny Kevin Alford, Jr. "D.K." (Patricia Coates Alford), Jennifer LaKay Alford Brinson (Travis McKenzie Brinson), Brandy Elisha Alford Gouedy, Laura Lee Bearden Mixon (Zebulon Mixon), Shelley Deanne Bearden Cascio, Chad Everette Bearden, Maranda Bearden Whitner (Josh), Kyle McAdams, Kara McAdams Pittman (Chris), Sara McAdams Carpenter (Josh), and Kody McAdams (Stephanie); great grandchildren, Brittany Nichole Crenshaw (Kyle), Garrett Wayne Alford, Taylor McKenzie Brinson, Keaton Grey Brinson, Cameron Pierce Bourgeios (Sky), Bella Kate Gouedy, Grant Everette Mixon, Noah Wade Mixon, Georgia Gray Mixon, Gracie Faith Sherrill, Madison Hope Cascio, Alexis Joy Cascio, Kenzlie Johnson, Christin McAdams, Madden McAdams, Gavin Carpenter, Landyn McAdams, Kash McAdams, Paisley McAdams, Coltyn Pittman, Lakelyn Pittman, Lainey McAdams, and Jaxon McAdams; and great great grandchildren, Aurora Grace Crenshaw, Layten Jane Crenshaw, Lexie Grace Bourgeois, and Evelynn Joy Bennett. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Bearden, Garrett Alford, Travis Brinson, Kevin Barkley, Josh Carpenter, Kyle Crenshaw, Zebulon Mixon, and Cody McAdams. Honorary pallbearers will be Donny Kevin Alford, Jr., Keaton Brinson, Cameron Pierce Bourgeois, and Kyle McAdams.

Thanks so much for her care at Arbor Lake, especially Deb Burnside. And a special thanks to her sister, Ruby Jean Taylor, who visited and stayed with her and held her hand until God called her home. 

Visitation will be held at 12:30 PM, prior to the service, at Holmesville Baptist Church, Monday, March 2, 2026.
