Sara (Sitzmann) Howe, 41, of rural Hinton, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Doug Klein will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery – Neptune, rural Hinton, Iowa. A celebration of life will be at the home of Rick and Debbie Sitzmann immediately following the committal service. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be directed to the family.
Sara Renee Sitzmann, the daughter of Richard and Debra (Pick) Sitzmann, was born on October 24, 1984, in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Neptune in Plymouth County, Iowa. She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in 2003. She received her degree in massage therapy from Bio-Chi Institute of Massage Therapy in Sioux City. She worked as a massage therapist for a few years before going to work for her father in his farrowing business. She was currently working for Steve and Travis Sitzmann’s hog finishing business in Plymouth County, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to Matthew Howe on May 27, 2017.
Sara enjoyed dancing and golfing. She was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She loved life on the farm and working with hogs. She was always up for an “adventure” with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Matt Howe of rural Hinton; children: Aniah Sitzmann (Logan Clarey) of Sioux City, IA, and Scott Howe and Luella Howe, both at home; her parents, Rick and Debbie Sitzmann of rural Hinton; her mother in law, Chris Howe of Hinton; her siblings: Bradley (Cassie, her daughter, Carly) Sitzmann of Le Mars, IA, and Mariya (Cole) Simons of Kingsley, IA, and their children, Emersyn and Kasey; her in-laws, Nathan Howe and Allyson (Josh) Loutsch, all of Hinton, IA; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jim and Joan Sitzmann; maternal grandparents, Don and Helen Pick; her father-in-law, Ronald Howe; her brother-in-law, Joshua Howe; two uncles, Bradley Sitzmann and Tom Langel; and her cousin, Samantha Erdmann.
