Thelma "Midge" Singleton Obituary

Thelma Dean “Midge” Singleton, 77, of Fairmont, West Virginia, passed away peacefully in her home on February 21, 2026, surrounded by her family and the legacy of a life well lived.

Born on July 6, 1948, in Fairmont, WV, she was the cherished daughter of Brazz P. Evans and Ernestine Evans. From the very beginning, Thelma’s life was rooted in love, resilience, and devotion to family. Known affectionately to many as “Midge,” she carried a warmth and spirit that made everyone feel welcome in her presence.

Midge was preceded in death by her parents Brazz Evans I and Ernestine Evans, Sisters Patrica Link and Edith Evans, Brothers Brazz P. Evans II and Robert L Evans.

Family was the center of her world. She was a devoted and loving mother to Anthony T. Evans of Fairmont, WV; Leonard L. O'Neal Jr. of Atlanta, GA; Dr. Shawn (Robert) Tylutki of Jackson, MI; Mike (Sonya) Singleton of Fairmont, WV; Christie D. O'Neal of Fairmont, WV; Garfield J. Singleton of Fairmont, WV; and Michelle (Bryan) Singleton/Holland of Morgantown, WV. and close friend Rose McKinney. She poured her heart into her children, offering guidance, strength, encouragement, and unconditional love throughout their lives.

Her joy multiplied with each new generation. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a deeply loving great-grandmother to thirteen great-grandchildren. Although Camisha was her first grandchild, she was more like a daughter to her, holding a uniquely special place in her heart. Nothing made her smile brighter than time spent with her family. Whether it was sharing stories, offering wisdom, or simply sitting together in laughter, those moments meant everything to her.

Midge was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church, where her faith in God sustained her and shaped her life. Her belief was quiet but strong, reflected in the kindness she extended and the grace with which she lived. Her church family was dear to her heart, and she found comfort and fellowship in worship and community.

She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Midge loved going to garage sales, always on the lookout for a hidden treasure. She enjoyed shopping, taking peaceful walks, and staying active. She also cherished her loving dog, Smokie, who brought her companionship and comfort. But above all, she treasured being surrounded by her loved ones. Her home and her heart were always open. She had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged.

Those who knew her will remember her caring spirit, her strength, her laughter, and her unwavering dedication to her family. She was a woman who gave freely of herself, who loved deeply, and who left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Though her presence will be profoundly missed, her love remains woven into the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who called her family and friend. Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held on February 26, 2026, at Morning Star Baptist Church. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
