Arden Pearce Obituary

Arden Suzanne Pearce

Mar 18, 1949 - May 16, 2025

Clyde

Arden Suzanne Lucas Pearce died Friday, May 16, 2025, at Stein Hospice in Sandusky following a long illness. She passed peacefully and without pain, her loving family by her side.

Arden was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, March 18, 1949, to Edwin D. Lucas and Dorothy Hawxhurst Lucas. On July 6, 1974, she wed William David Pearce in Ashland, and they remained married for 45 years until his passing in 2019. She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marjorie; and nephews, Donald and John.

Graduating from Ashland High School in 1967, Arden went on to receive a bachelor's degree in education from Baldwin Wallace and later a master's degree from Heidelberg University. She started her fruitful career in Toledo in 1971 and a few years later began teaching in Clyde as a special reading teacher, a position she held for over 30 years until her retirement in 2005. Known for her patience and kindness, Mrs. Pearce gave countless students the lifelong gift of literacy and touched many lives throughout her distinguished career.

Arden was most appreciated and loved by her surviving children, Andy and Maggie of Clyde, who would like to extend a warm thank you to the nurses, doctors, and staff of Firelands Regional Medical Center and Stein Hospice, whose kindness and professionalism helped make her final months comfortable and dignified.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde. Private services will be Saturday, with burial to follow at Bakertown Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Clyde Public Library and Sandusky County Humane Society.

Arden was one of my best friends in high school. She had a wonderful personality and was a lot of fun. I last spent time with her at our 55th year high school reunion. I am so glad we had the time together. Rest in peace my friend.

Arden and I were roommates at BW as well as Alpha Phi sorority sisters. Our bond encompassed being able to call or meet each other and pick up on conversation as if we hadn’t been apart. My deepest condolences to both Andy and Maggie and appreciation for all of your care for your Mom.

Arden was a very good friend of Susan Landis and myself (Rick Cross) in high school. She was an attendant in our wedding in Ashland. Our friendship renewed later in life when we moved to Clyde. She and Bill were great friends and I miss them both. Arden had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved by many. Rest in Peace my friend.
