Sandusky

Arturo "Artie" Rodriguez, 81, of Sandusky, left this earth and went to be with his Lord and Savior early Tuesday morning, April 16, 2024, at Stein Hospice Care Center.

He was born Feb. 16, 1943, in Mercedes, Texas, to Arturo and Olivia (Ramirez) Rodriguez.

Artie was a well-known musician from Sandusky and the surrounding areas. He was still a well-known Disc Jockey, DJing for many weddings over the years and most recently hosting karaoke at Sandusky American Legion and Sandusky VFW. In his career he touched many lives and in doing so, he got to practice what he loved doing and had a passion for. He was a member of Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Shelley (Hartley) Rodriguez, whom he married Oct. 16, 1999; children, Shellie (Sandy Glenn) Leonard, Dustin (Jessica) Rodriguez, Cory Rodriguez, Kelsey (Ryan Lugibihl) Rodriguez, Shane (Kameo) Kreuter, and Chase (Chelsea) Kreuter; and seven grandchildren, Remington, Harrison, Marcellus, Kamden, Koen, Kai, and Daxton.

Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Rd., Sandusky, Ohio, 44870. There are so many memories of all the family weddings and birthdays , family reunions, friends' weddings and 4th of July parties, holiday picnics in our back yard, Thursdays at the Legion, pool parties in Columbus for any and every special celebration, etc., etc .,etc. I'm sure you and Big Don are singing "The Green Green Grass of Home" right now as you smile down on all of us. And what a host of loved ones joining you in song now that you have won your race and are enjoying "home" with Jesus. No more issues with shortness of breath, heart ailments, loss of the physical strength you once had. Now your reward is eternal. Your duet with Dad can be "Help Me Make it Through the Night" to Shelley and me as we miss you guys dearly and we know you'll be together waiting for us to join you one day. Thanks for the memories to a special son-in-law!

God Bless you Artie. Even though I had not seen you in year's you had played a part in my success in music, with your influence and advice when I was a young driven musician. I had bought so many guitar's from The Guitar Shop that Artie knew my Wife and Children. Thank you Artie from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and friendship throughout the year's!
Good Bless you sir and may your family find comfort in these times.
