Barbara M. Harkness, 86, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.

She was born August 16, 1938, in Sandusky, and was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary's Central Catholic High School. Barbara was employed at Castalia Trout Club for 20-plus years. She was always helping her husband, Gerald, around the family farm.

Barbara was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She had a love for music and singing and shared her talents in the church choir and Sweet Adelines International Chorus.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gerald F. Harkness; four children, Kathy (Rick) Bauman, Kris (Stephen) McCullough, Steve (Sheila) Harkness, and Karen Teeple (Dan); eight grandchildren, David (Melissa) Bauman, Amy (Lenny) Kromer, Chad (Lindsay) McCullough, Brett McCullough (Emily), Amber McCullough (Jim), Jennifer Teeple, Derek Teeple (Abby), and Dylan Teeple; 10 great-grandchildren, Carter, Lexi Mae, Ailey, Brooke, Loretta, Clay, Peyton, Wade, Willow, and Serena; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Amelia (Braeunig) Voltz; two brothers, Tom Voltz and Dave Voltz; and a granddaughter, Vanessa Market.

Per Barbara's wishes, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Fr. Monte Hoyles will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Choir or Margaretta Township Rescue Squad, 113 South Avenue, Castalia, Ohio 44824.

Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, has been entrusted with arrangements.

Tom & I are so sorry to hear of your loved one´s passing. Tho we never met, we feel like we knew her via all the wonderful stories Karen has shared with us over the years. Im certain she was a wonderful person, as her daughter & her grands we have met are top notch people. We hope your fond memories help during the hard times.
