Barton Manley Obituary

Barton John "Bart" Manley

Nov 16, 1950 - Jul 7, 2025

Sandusky

Barton John "Bart" Manley, 74, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness July 7, 2025, at The Meadows at Osborn Park. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a devoted father, beloved friend, and dedicated public servant.

Born November 16, 1950, in Baltimore, Bart lived a life marked by service, strength, and unwavering commitment to his community and family. For over 40 years, he served honorably as a deputy with Erie County Sheriff's Office, where he retired as a lieutenant, along with being the hostage negotiator, firearms instructor, and teacher at EHOVE.

Beyond the badge, Bart was a loving and steadfast father. His greatest pride was his family, and he poured his heart into raising his sons with integrity. He was always there, with wisdom, a vast sense of humor, and an open door for those who needed him.

Bart is survived by his ex-wife, Birtha Manley; brothers, Doug (wife Kayla) and Dean (wife Beth); sons, Brendan and BJ; grandchildren, Emma and Carson.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Martha and Barton W. Manley.

His legacy is one of honor, dedication, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

A celebration of Bart's life will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Friends and family may greet one another beforehand from 12-2 p.m.
