Betty Bohn Obituary

Betty J. Bohn

Oct 9, 1932 - Apr 1, 2026

Castalia

Betty Jayne (Williams) Bohn, of Castalia, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

She was born in Sandusky, October 9, 1932, to the late Cleota (Schnell) and Robert J. Williams. Betty was a proud 1950 graduate of Margaretta High School, where she participated in Journalism Club and was also a cheerleader. After graduation, Betty worked briefly at Elmer Borchardt Trucking in Castalia. She met her future husband, Bill L. Bohn, at Downing's Barn, a popular dance hall. They later married, December 8, 1951, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sandusky. Betty quickly went from being a "city girl" to a "country bride" and was a loving homemaker and mother. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia, where she and Bill were members of the former "Mr. and Mrs. Club". She also taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Betty was active in Circle and volunteered with Bereavement luncheons. Her church family was very dear to Betty.

Betty is survived by her children, Bobbi (Mark) Kastor, N. Fort Myers, Florida, Billy (Kathy) Bohn, Barry (Maggie) Bohn, and Becky Bohn, all of Castalia; grandchildren, Brian (Allison) Bohn, Andy (Andrea) Bohn, Kevin Bohn, Karyn Barnette, Jameson Yingling, Jarrett (Lindsey) Yingling, Jordan (Darcy Nardotti) Yingling, and Justine Yingling; Grandma Great to Gavin, Maycee, Xavier (Morgan), Xander, Jaxson, Jerzie, Kolton, Danika, Karter, Briella, Vinny, Bennett, Kynlee, Jettsen, Kamryn, Pierson, Avett, and Huxley; sister in-law, Pat Bohn, Castalia; and several nieces and nephews.

For many years, Betty and Bill prepared Sunday dinners with much love for their family.

In addition to Bill and her parents, Betty was preceded in death by in-laws who never treated her like an in-law, Mildred (Strecker) and George P. Bohn, Patricia and Duane Gardner, Jack and Virginia Bohn, Max Bohn, and George F. and Dolores Bohn; half siblings, Margaret Reed, Buddy Williams, and Anna Ballah.

Betty's family would like to thank the A Team Nursing Caregivers, staff at The Commons of Providence Assisted Living, and nurses at Stein Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia, with the Rev. Dane Meuschke officiating. Burial will be at Castalia Cemetery. Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Margaretta Township Fire Dept, 113 South Ave., Castalia, or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
