Betty Mae (nee Waldron) Jackson, 94, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Elyria.
Betty graduated from Elyria High School in 1947 and married Olin Jackson in 1957. Betty worked as a legal secretary for various law firms in the area and later retired from Erie County Job and Family Services. She was an active member of Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and American Legion in Sandusky. In her leisure time, Betty enjoyed bowling and solving crossword puzzles. She was also a dedicated member of Elyria Women's Bowling Association for several years and proudly held the singles champion title from 1951-1952.
Betty is survived by her children, Linda Wrenn of Sandusky, John (Lisa) Jackson of North Ridgeville, and Gail Jackson of Rocky River; grandchildren, Katherine (Austin) Smith and David Wrenn; great-grandchildren, Easton Smith and Dallas Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sadie (Gibson) Waldron; husband, Olin Q. Jackson; siblings, Norma Giedlinski and James Waldron; and son-in-law, Michael Wrenn.
Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Betty's funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at the funeral home with the Rev. Mikal Cheek presiding. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
