Bobbie Garrett Obituary

Bobbie Sue Garrett

Sep 22, 1961 - Apr 24, 2024

Sandusky

Bobbie Sue Garrett, a life-long member of the community of Sandusky, Sister Bobbie "Sue" Garrett was born Sept. 22, 1961, in Lorain, to Mr. Bobbie Lee Garrett, Sr. and Mother Precious (Roney) Garrett Edmon.

At an early age, she united in faith at The Historic Second Baptist Church in Sandusky. After graduating from Sandusky High School in 1979, Sister Sue went on to further her education at The Ohio State University and in 1980, returned back to Sandusky, finishing at Bowling Green State University, Firelands Campus.

She worked various jobs in Erie County with her last two being at Monroe Preparatory Academy as well as Wee Care Day Care as an Instructional Aide, until about eight months ago when her health starting turning for the worse. Her bout with illness began in Sept., 2020, and this first bout of illness lasted for about 10 months. Then, it seems like every eight months, she had an illness for a period of two-eight months at a time. She always bounced back and appeared to be doing great. Therefore, this last bout, we were expecting a bounce back because she was doing the majority of the planning for her granddaughter's graduation party and trip to Houston, Texas, in June of this year. However, the God Lord had other plans for her. That plan was to take her to her just reward!

As a youth and into her adult years, she became a social butterfly, lighting up the room with her positive attitude and great smile. In her youthful days, she was very active in the youth department at The Historic Second Baptist Church, in the choir, Sunday School, and Usher. Then as an adult, ahe continued being actively involved in several ministries, choirs, matron, missionary, Sunday School, and Usher. In 2020, she united in faith with Our Sister Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, in the city of Sandusky, where continued to be actively involved in the choir and assisting with the care of Mother Rose Stephens.

In 1988, she became a dedicated member of Amaranth Grand Chapter, Inc. Order of Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliated, State Of Ohio, Lakeview Chapter #65. With her beautiful voice singing as a youngster, it was no wonder that singing karaoke was one of her biggest hobbies, probably the biggest hobby.

She leaves to cherish her memories by blood, common bond, love and marriage her daughter, Ms. Brandin C. Garrett; son, Mr. Braylan M.A. Brown; granddaughters, Ms. Nautyka L. Garrett and Ms. Jerney L. Garrett-Smith; great-granddaughter, Dior A. Fuller; siblings, Mr. Levon Hickman, Ms. JoReatha Edmon, Ms. Essie Hickman, Mrs. Dorothy (Larry, deceased) Miller, Mr. Terry L. Garrett, Mrs. A.
