Bonnie M. Ritchey, 84, of Huron, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Stein Hospice.

Bonnie was born Aug. 26, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, to Erna W. and William C. Lester. She moved to North Olmsted in 1955. Growing up, Bonnie had a love of horses and riding with her good friend, Judy. Bonnie was a graduate of North Olmsted High School and after graduating, worked at Prudential Insurance.

In 1962, Bonnie met her husband, George (Pete) Ritchey, and together they worked at Evarts and Tremaine Insurance Agency in Cleveland. Pete and Bonnie shared their love of boating on Lake Erie and spending time in their 'home on the lake" in Chaska Beach for over 40 years. Her husband, Pete, preceded her in death in 1986.

She was an active member of Cleveland Forest City Rose Society, helping with many of their rose shows. She also was active in Huron Garden Club and helped to decorate Huron's Lake Front Park and Huron Public Library during the holidays.

Her home in Chaska was always the gathering place for annual fish fries, clambakes, and the holidays. Bonnie had a heart of gold and always invited anyone she knew that was alone to join them at the table. She maintained friendships with many people near and far, old and young.

Bonnie would want her helpers and friends and there were many, to know how much she appreciated their love, care, and friendship. She was never alone during her illness. A longtime friend's husband said it best, "Bonnie was one of a kind."

Left to cherish her memory are her cousins, Jacqueline Lemons (Wesley, deceased) of Ripley, Tennessee, Marcia Dodds (James) of Alton, Illinois, Michael Tannhauser (Karen) of Wood Dale, Illinois, and their children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.

A graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio, 44070.
