Carl L. Kovacs, 89, of Huron, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 2, 2024, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Carl was born June 2, 1934, in Lorain, to Louis and Sophie Kovacs, and graduated from Vermilion High School in 1952. He was a member of Erie County Band where he met his wife, Gladys Grisell, and served in U.S. Army and Army Reserve from 1957-1962.
A resident of Huron for most of his life, Carl is survived by his daughters, Kaye (Jeff) Gorman of North Ridgeville and Susan Kovacs (Mike Felter) of Milan; sisters, Dorothy Jones of California and Rosemary Kovacs of Vermilion; grandchildren, Jason (Brittany) Gorman of Charleston, South Carolina, Erik (Maeghan) Gorman of Strongsville, and Sebastian Kilbury of Columbus; four great-grandchildren he was blessed with, Madilynn and Elize Gorman (Erik) and Tanner and Lilah Gorman (Jason); and nephews, Steven (Kim) Dircks and Kevin (Lisa) Dircks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys (2009); and son, David (2015).
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at Huron Eagles, 2902 Cleveland Rd. W., Huron, Ohio, 44839, followed by Carl's celebration of life from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carl's name to American Heart Association at www.heart.org/donate.
Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, Huron, is assisting family.
