Marblehead

Charles J.R. Wiedenhoft, 94, of Marblehead, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, at Otterbein North shore Retirement Village, Lakeside.

He was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Marblehead, the son of Charles A. and Marie E. (Crowe) Wiedenhoft. He married Hazel E. Noonan on Sept. 10, 1948, and she preceded him in death Jan. 4, 2019. Charles worked at Kelley Island Lime and Transport Co., was manager of Matthews Boat Co., and later worked as a millwright at General Motors-New Departure, retiring in 1992. He was a volunteer fireman for Marblehead Fire Department, serving as assistant chief and interim chief.

Charles is survived by his children, Lorie (Steven) Feyedelem of Marblehead and Dale (Suzie) Wiedenhoft of Marblehead; daughter-in-law, Paula Wiedenhoft of North Ridgeville; grandchildren, Wendy (James) Murphy, Charles (Jennifer) Wiedenhoft, Allison (Brian) Holzaepfel, Ashley (Brian) Murphy, Steven A. (Kelcie) Feyedelem, Nathan (Leah) Wiedenhoft, and Nick (Jackie) Wiedenhoft; great-grandchildren, John and Emma Holzaepfel, Adrianna and Felicity Wiedenhoft, and Charles Murphy; and good friends of the "Men of Marblehead" coffee group.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Charles T. Wiedenhoft; and brother, Everett Boggs.

He will be remembered as a man who loved his family. As a wonderful husband, he loved and cared for Mom all her life, even through difficult times. He will be remembered as a father who gave his children the very best of his life, as a grandfather who was so very proud of his grandchildren, and as a good friend who shared his wisdom, advice, and respect. He will be remembered as a true gentleman that was hardworking, strong, and loving. He remained gentle, kind, and wise up to his death. His love will live on in our hearts and always be remembered.

The family would also like to thank Cathy Laws for all her compassion and care she gave Dad while at Otterbein.

Services will be at a later date.

Charles' son Chuck was my brother in law. I remember visiting his father and mother at their home in Marblehead when he lost his son. My mother Tillie was from Marblehead. And Chuck knew her from past. He was a very proud and respectful man. Humble, giving and good. I will always remember him as a good man who never forgot his roots . Henry Langholz
