Claudette Shepherd, 85, of New London, died Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 26, 1939, in Floyd County, Kentucky, the daughter of John and June (nee Mead) Harvey. Claudette moved to New London at a young age and spent most of her life there.

Claudette enjoyed tending her flower gardens and spending time outdoors in nature. She would spend peaceful afternoons watching the birds at her feeders. She also enjoyed taking camping trips with family as well as playing cards. Most of all, Claudette cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Claudette's survivors include her children, Denise (Steve) Ball of New London, Martin (Cindy) Shepherd of Greenwich, Rose (Chris) Kern of Norwalk, Elliot Shepherd of Clarksfield, Desmond (Angela) Shepherd of Fitchville, Amber (Phillip) Daniels of Norwalk, Jessica (Gheorghe) Gureu of New London, and Charity (Eric) Case of New London; companion of many years, Daniel Clark; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Lois Kosic, Brenda Crawford, and Debbie Sherman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband 48 years, Lowell C. Shepherd; son, Gary Shepherd; granddaughter, Rachelle Shepherd; sister, Diane Hall; and daughter-in-law, Nikki Shepherd.

Visitation for friends and family will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London. Claudette's funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, with burial to follow at Fitchville Cemetery.
