Dale Wayne Flewelling, 81, of Sandusky, and formerly of Maine, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born April 26, 1941, in Easton, Maine, to the late Milton L. and Corene A. (Blackden) Flewelling.

Dale was a 1959 graduate of Easton High School. He proudly served his country in United States Army from 1960-1963. He was employed by New Departure Hyatt before retiring after 37 years as a machine repairman. Dale's love and joy were his grandchildren. He was extremely proud of their academic achievements and he especially enjoyed watching them play sports, be it football, basketball, baseball, softball, or volleyball. The day he passed away he was watching and listening to a broadcast of a grandson's baseball game from his hospital bed. He was amazing at fixing all kinds of things. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and canning. He enjoyed watching Ohio State football and basketball and was a Cleveland sports fan. He was a member of American Legion Post 83 and Sandusky AMVETS Post 17.

He is survived by three sons, Dale (Andrea) Flewelling of Sandusky, Matthew (Jenny) Flewelling of Clyde, and Michael Flewelling of North Olmstead; six grandchildren, Jared, Kyle, Anthony, Garrett, Mason, and Gianna; four siblings, Erwin (Linda) Flewelling, Dwight Flewelling, Geraldine Lawrence, and Joyce Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Rita M. (Koby) Flewelling; two infants, Brian and Martin; stillborn baby, Elaine; sister, Carmen; and in-laws, Sally Flewelling, Richard Wilson, and Marvin Lawrence.

At Dale's request, cremation will take place. Friends may call Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 10 a.m. until time of the memorial service at 12 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The family requests that attendees dress casually. Burial will take place at a later date at Castalia Cemetery.
