Dan also served as a Driver's Education teacher during that time.

Dan was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandusky. He was an active member by teaching Sunday School, ushering, and participating on both the Trinity Softball team and dartball league. He enjoyed sports and spent much time volunteering to coach little league teams for soccer and softball, as well as coaching track at Margaretta. He also was a referee for many years for local high school football and basketball games, as well as umpiring softball games. Dan enjoyed watching and following many sports, especially sports his daughters and granddaughters were involved in. He was a big Cleveland sports fan.
