Darlene Joy Calhoun, 68, residing in Norwalk, passed away late Thursday evening, Feb. 2, 2023, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
Darlene was born Jan. 18, 1955, in Sandusky, to the late Ralph and Mary Marjorie (Bickley) Holzmiller.
Darlene attended Edison High School and EHOVE Career Center, graduating in 1973. She was a skilled embroiderer for New London Regalia Manufacturing for eight years. Darlene was also employed as a dental hygienist for eight years. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Grand Canyon. Darlene's greatest passion was her family and dog, Sam.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Rory Calhoun, whom she married Oct. 10, 1996; son, Keith (Tami) Pasenow of Bellevue; grandchildren, Ethan, Jared, Madelyn, and Gage; great-grandchild, Archer; brothers, Ralph "Sonny" (Joan) Holzmiller of Norwalk and Steve (Lori) Holzmiller of Georgia; and beloved K-9 companion, Sam.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her brothers, Ron Holzmiller and Rich Holzmiller.
Darlene's memorial gathering will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Darlene's memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Wally Gilbert will be presiding.
Memorial contributions can be made to Huron County Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857.

I am stunned and heartbroken still trying to maintain.
I just found out about you passing. I haven't heard anything for months and finally did a search for you and bingo. Why Dar? You have been my best friend for years. I would have hoped someone would have called me. I will never forget the fun we had when you flew to Denver. You had trouble breathing then. Our elevation is a mile high (5,280 ft).
Anyway fly high Dar. You are free and no longer suffering.
