David "Dave" T. Bauer, 85, of Castalia, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 25, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

He was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Sandusky, and was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic School, Sandusky.

He was a journeyman pipefitter for Local Union 42. Dave worked at Ford Motor Company for 15 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of WLEC Sports Team, St. Mary Catholic Church, Margaretta Boosters, and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and was an avid Margaretta girls basketball fan.

He is survived by his children, Lisa (Kevin) Dircks of Huron, Michael (Laura) Bauer of Lake Michigan, Beth (David) Miller of Republic, Jeff Bauer of Catawba Island, and Scott Bauer of Castalia; grandchildren, Matthew (Chantelle) Duskins, Cody Miller, Amanda (Tony) Berzin, Erin (Eric) Scantlen, Evan (Karen) Bauer, Jennifer Bauer, Jared (Alysha) Bauer, Cassandra Dircks, Logan Bauer, and Jarrett Bauer; great-grandchildren, Aaden, Avery, and Alyvia Duskins, Chase, Ella, Casey, and Wyatt Berzin, Genevieve and Charlotte Bauer, Gracelynn, Amelia, and Elijah Scantlen, and Zach Bauer-Tallman; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jordan Bauer; parents, Linus and Elizabeth (Wiley) Bauer; brother, Charles Bauer; sisters, Carol and Juanita; and hunting buddy and nephew, Bill Bauer.

Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A private family service will take place and burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to Margaretta High School Athletic Boosters, P.O. Box 281, Castalia, Ohio, 44824.

Uncle David was always very kind to me. I know he is happy reuniting with Gram, Grandpa, Bill, Juanita, and Carol and so many others. My condolences to his whole family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
