David H. Faber, 67, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023.

David was born Sept. 22, 1956, in Sandusky, to Joseph and Mary (Hacker) Faber.

David was a 1974 graduate of St. Mary's High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from John Carroll University. He was a life-long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky and member of Knights of Columbus. David enjoyed volunteering throughout the community, especially for the Catholic Cemeteries, Briarcrest Swimclub, and Heartbeat Crisis Pregnancy Center. He was also a Friend of the Metro Parks. Time with his family was one of David's greatest joys and he was proud of his three sons who were all Eagle Scouts. He spent lots of time with his sons as a Scout leader in their youth, cheering them on in marching band competitions and sports, and visiting them around the country as they grew. He loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Cavs and Browns, and enjoyed gardening, road trips to National Parks, taking walks, reading about history, and visiting Presidential homes.

David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lisa (Hanway) Faber; three sons, Nathan (Robyn) Faber of Florida, Colin (Alex) Faber of Columbus, and Austin Faber of Wisconsin; three siblings, Larry (Bonnie) Faber, Rose (Dennis) Mesenburg, and Dennis (Beverly) Faber, all of Sandusky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Thad and Jean Hanway.

Visitation for friends will be 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, until the time of Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. I remember the first time I met David. I saw a man raking our leaves. I inquired if they knew him. No one knew. We started calling him our leaf angel. That name stuck even when we found out his name. We will miss you David! Condolences to the family.

To Lisa and sons. I am so sorry to hear of your father and David's death. I have been in your shoes, so I understand what you are experiencing. If you ever need to talk, please call me. Something that may help you in your journey is to remember all of the wonderful and good times that you spent with your father and David. It will take time, but those memories will keep you going and eventually make you smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in peace David.

David was my next door neighbor for over twenty years. I will miss him greatly. Together we built his deck shortly after Lisa and him moved in. He was always friendly, kind and ready to help whenever I needed assistance for anything. He was a loving and supportive father to his sons. My sincere condolences to Lisa and the family. Rest in peace, my friend.
