David A. Jones, 66, of Sandusky, passed away Friday morning, December 12, 2025, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Port Clinton.

Born August 20, 1959, in Columbus, the son of George Everett and Mary Katherine (Perkins) Jones. He was a 1977 graduate of Brookhaven High School in Columbus, and later received his bachelor's in criminology and his master's in business from The Ohio State University in Columbus.

David was in law enforcement for several years, retiring as New Albany Police Chief, and later became general manager of Sandusky Public Transit System.

He was a member and officer in Masonic Perseverance Lodge No. 329, the Scottish Rite, and a 32nd Degree Mason.

David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara J. (Sekerak) Jones whom he married August 29, 1987; his children, Noah Jones of Sandusky, Katherine Jones of Lancaster, and David Jones of Cary, South Carolina; a stepdaughter, Amanda (Gary) Vanover; and his 11 grandchildren; Brooklynn, Alexander, Griffin, Isabella, Aiden, Jaxon, Wyatt, Carson, Elijah, David and Carter; and a niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas Jones.

It was his wish to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon, December 19, 2025, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Services to be conducted by Masonic Perserverance Lodge No. 329 F. & A. M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Masonic Perserverance Lodge No. 329, 304 Wayne Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
