David Krawetzki Obituary

David M. "Krow" Krawetzki

Jan 15, 1951 - Apr 24, 2025

Collins

David M. "Krow" Krawetzki, 73, of Collins, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born on October 15, 1951, in Sandusky to Roland and Ruth (Bender) Krawetzki.

David graduated from Sandusky High School in 1970 and then went on to attend BGSU, graduating with a bachelor's in fine arts. He worked at Glidden in Huron for over 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and building boats. He loved being outside in the yard. His yard and house were his pride and joy; he was always out there. He had a special relationship with his grandson, Damian, and loved building things for him.

David had a very dry, dark sense of humor. Many people might have thought he was quiet and stoic, but he could be very chatty. He was extremely loyal to his friends; if anyone needed help or to borrow something, he was there to help. He was always cracking jokes and could talk with his daughter, Jen, for hours. He was fluent in sarcasm and could have entire ad-libbed, poker-faced conversations, all the while making everything up. He loved to sadly tell people he was diagnosed with a chronic and terminal illness called SOMS, then wait for their sympathy before he disclosed the meaning of SOMS – Stubborn Old Man Syndrome.

David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 38 years, Jeanine, whom he married July 5, 1987. He is also survived by his daughter, Jen Nichols; grandson, Damian; sister, Nancy Stevens; nephews, Donnie, Lonnie, Gary; and nieces, Laurie, Neila and Sarah. He also left behind his best friend, Bill Oross, who he considered a brother, as well as other relatives and many friends, including Trudy, Nala, Garfield, and Abby.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn Lippus and Barbara Krawetzki.

Friends may call from 3:30-7 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights.

I have known David since we made our first communion at Zion Lutheran church as teenagers. We went to school together and we're friends since the early 60's. A funny guy always with that sense of humor. Rest in peace my friend.
