David Pfanner, 87, residing in Sandusky, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2024, at home surrounded by his family following a brief illness.

David was born Jan. 4, 1937, in Sandusky, to George and Dorothy (Grundler) Pfanner.

David was a 1955 graduate of St. Mary's High School. David was employed with Kroger, the former Scott Paper Company, Van Dresser, and J.F. Walker Company before retiring in 1992. He took pride in being a hardworking man and was proud of the fact he never missed a day of work.

He was a former member of Sandusky Amvet Post 17, Sandusky Orioles Club, and was a lifetime member of Elks Club #285. David enjoyed yard work, grilling out, Notre Dame and Ohio State Buckeyes football, and Cleveland Guardians. His greatest joy was his family and spending time with them.

David is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Ferback), whom he married Sept. 27, 1958. "You were the sunshine of my life." He is also survived by two sons, Mark (Sheila) Pfanner and David "Scott" Pfanner, both of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Patrick (Jenna) Pfanner, Amanda Pfanner, Cory (Annie) Pfanner, and Ryan (Hannah Stang) Pfanner; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Felicity; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jean Girardi and Carole Demres; and three brothers, James, Robert, and Richard Pfanner.
