David was also actively involved in B.P.O.E. since the 1960s, Knights of Columbus, Sons of Amvets, the former YMCA, Elks Golf League, and Senior Center. In 1967, David was awarded a Certificate of Bravery for rescuing a young boy who had fallen through the ice on the Sandusky Bay. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and cards.
