Diane Lynne (Hay) Burley, 80 years young, passed away in her sleep unexpectedly, but peacefully, Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Diane was born April 17, 1943, to Charles Newton Hay and Izetta (Watts) Hay.
Diane was a graduate of University of Michigan and as a lifelong breaker of glass ceilings, she was a trailblazer and an intellectual force of nature who earned a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in chemistry as well as a Master's degree in statistics before going on to succeed in the male-dominated world of I.T. She lived a full and rewarding life, taking on new challenges to the end. Her lust for life, kindness, and sage advice will be missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her daughter, Carol; son, Daniel; five beloved grandchildren, Nunzio Burley, Abigail Lancaster, Minerva Burley, Samuel Lancaster, and Jacob Lancaster; and four-legged companion, Sassifras (Sassie), her loyal and loving Golden Retriever.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband of 53 years, David Richard Burley.
Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky.
