Donald Duston Obituary

Donald W. Duston II

Sep 11, 1956 - Nov 29, 2025

Republic

Donald W. "Bug Eyes" Duston, II, 69, of Republic, went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, November 29, 2025, at his home.

Born September 11, 1956, in Sandusky, the son of Donald Wilbur and Mary Alice (Welser) Duston, I. He was a graduate of Sandusky High School. Donald had worked at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (a division of General Motors) for over 30 years before retiring. After retiring, he worked at Lowe's for 15 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but his family will mostly remember him for how much he loved the water and for growing up on the lake. He also owned and operated, or he captained, many of his boats over the years. Donald also loved collecting and running his model trains, and listening to his Rock music, especially Pink Floyd (LOUDLY).

He was a longtime member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and after retiring and moving to Republic, he became a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica. Donald was also a member of U.A.W. Local No. 913.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cindy J. (Wharton) Duston whom he married June 13, 1980; his family, Jeff Duston, Donald L. "Donnie" (Samia) Duston, Jeremy (Michelle) Duston, Joseph (Jess) Duston, Timothy (Chris) Duston, and Cynthia (Dustin) Duston; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Debbie Crawford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Alex Duston; two sisters, Diana Holcomb and Donna Miller; and a niece, Kelley Holcomb.

Visitation will be from 8:30-9:40 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, with Fr. Prashanth Kumar officiating. It was his wish to be cremated following services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942; Wyandot County Equine Rescue, 4660 SR 199, Carey, OH 43316 or to one's favorite charity.
