Donald "Dutch" Greulich

Dutch Greulich, 92, residing in Sandusky, passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at his daughter's home in Oregon, Ohio, after a brief illness.

He was born May 2, 1931, in Sandusky, to Edward and Rose (Wisehart) Greulich.

He was a veteran of U.S. Marine Corps who proudly served his country during the Korean War and was decorated with the Purple Heart. He was employed with Sandusky Cement and retired from J.C. Ready Mix in 1993 after many years of service as a truck driver. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion Post #83, and VFW Post #2529. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking. Dutch could build and fix anything, loved the water, swimming, and Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland sports teams. He was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Greulich (Krafty), whom he married May 6, 1967; daughters, DeAnn Bohlander of Sandusky and Heidi (E.J.) Materni of Oregon, Ohio; three grandchildren, Megan (Nathan) Davidson and Magdalyn Materni, both of Columbus, and Evan Materni of Knoxville, Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Dutch was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jeanne (Herzog) Greulich; daughter, Dawn Ferback; six brothers, Raymond, Richard, Robert, Eugene, Floyd, and Norman; and three sisters, Josephine, Catherine, and Marjorie.

The family would like to thank ProMedica Hospice for the love and care they provided for Dutch.

Visitation for friends will be 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, until the time of prayers at 9:30 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, followed by Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, with Fr. Hoyles presiding. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
