Dorothy (Leimeister) Fannin, 97, of Collins, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Huron, to Joseph and Ada (Good) Leimeister. She was a 1945 graduate of Berlin Heights High School and worked at the Shinrock elevator until being married in 1948. She worked at the former Mary Lee Candy in Norwalk, raised her children, and then retired in 1995 as a cook at Western Reserve High School. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and served in the adoration chapel for years, Wakeman Eagles, Farm Women's Club, and the last living founding member of the Townsend Firebells. In 2000, she became Citizen of the Year by the Townsend Township residents, and enjoyed gardening, cards, Pinnacle card club over 25 years, and was a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Paul Catholic Church. She was known as an avid baker and made many German breads over the years. Dorothy was a proud 100-gallon blood donor with American Red Cross.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Pat) Dunn of Norwalk, Joanne (Bruce) Linn, Jean (Ron) Wolfe, and Deb (Ken) Morrow, all of Collins, Betty Driver of LaGrange, Brenda (Steve) Cooper of Collins, Cindy (Dwight) Buchanon of Cincinnati, Tom Fannin of New London, Pat (Judy) Fannin and Joe (Chrissey) Fannin, all of Wakeman, Steve (Tammy) Fannin of Columbus, Indiana, and James Fannin of LaGrange; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and siblings, Catherine Clouse of Norwalk, Rose Fannin of New London, Ruth Wood of Norwalk, Monica Leimeister of Columbus, Tony (Virginia) Leimeister of Huron, Paul Leimeister of Huron, and John (Jean) Leimeister of Sandusky.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert Lee Fannin in 2014; children, Frederick in infancy and Patricia Fannin at nine years old; brothers, Jim, Michael, Charles, and Frank; and sisters, Norma Leimeister, Rita Roberts, Theresa Wyatt, and Mary Moyer.

Visitation for friends will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
