Edward (Ed) Davis Jr., 71, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 9, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
Ed was born Sept. 8, 1950, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Velma Jackson and Edward Davis Sr. He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1969, served in U.S. Army, and worked at Sandusky Dressed Beef and Ford Motor Company. Ed loved fishing, gardening, and BBQing for friends and family. He also enjoyed repairing his bicycles, watching westerns, writing poetry, and listening to music. He was truly a jack of all trades and was quick to help others in any area of his expertise. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandkids who affectionately called him "Grandpa Eggs."
Ed leaves behind to cherish his memories a Godfearing mother, Velma (Davis) Casteel of Sandusky; five daughters, Dawn (Kevin) White of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kynisha Turner of Temple, Texas, Shatina Davis of Sandusky, Dynah Davis of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and LaCoya Davis of Sandusky; two sons, Edward Denelle (Cindy) Davis of Columbus and Drew Davis of Sandusky; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice (Royce) Lewis of Akron and Janie Casteel-Payne of Clinton, Michigan; and brother, Robert Wayne (Donna) Casteel of Sandusky.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Edward Davis Sr.; stepfather, Elder Robert Casteel; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Armateen Davis; maternal grandparents, Johnnie and Dynah Jackson; sister, Carrie L. Jones; and five stepsisters, Lisa A. Jones, Alberta Clark, Joyce Casteel, Christine Casteel, and Rosie Woods.
Ed's funeral will be 12 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2022, at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave, Sandusky, with Pastor Joseph Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery, 2602 Bogart Rd., Huron.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave, Lorain, Ohio, 44052.
