Elaine Joyce (Ackerman) Jarrell, 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday morning, May 2, 2024, at home after a brief illness.

Elaine was born July 25, 1938, in Sandusky, to William and Florence (Strub) Ackerman.

Elaine graduated from Sandusky High School in 1957. She was employed at O.E. Meyer and Sons for 12 years and retired from Stein Inc. (now John Bean Technology) in 2001. Elaine was a member of Port Clinton Art Club and volunteered at Serving Our Seniors. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, playing cards, oil painting, gardening, and music. She was also very civic minded and worked election polls to support her community, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Julie (Jayson) Melson of Sandusky; son, Bradley (Linda) Jarrell of Avon; grandchildren, Nathan, Emma, Lauren, Madeline, and Brooklyn; sister, Donna Kaser; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry D. Jarrell in 2014; and sister, Beverly Hoerner.

Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2024, until the time of Elaine's funeral at 11:30 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Phil Gardner presiding. Burial will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery, Castalia.
