Elaine M. Maillard, 98, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Elaine was born May 22, 1925, in Sandusky, to William H. and Irene C. (Behrendsen) Leibacher.
Elaine graduated from Sandusky High School and was a secretary for The Boy Scouts of America for many years. Elaine was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed golf and bowling leagues. She loved to travel, especially taking cruises, and looked forward to wintering in Florida. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family.
Elaine is survived by her husband, LeRoy J. Maillard, whom she married Jan. 21, 1961; son, John (Barb) Maillard; daughter, Mary (Jeff) Wadsworth; five grandchildren, Trisha (John) Eblin, Doug Cooper, Elizabeth Maillard, Brent (Tiffany) Maillard, and Molly (Todd) Suarez; eight great-grandchildren, Haley, Brendan and Cassidy Eblin, Gage Byington, Ava, Tate, and Zeke Maillard, and Sam Suarez; sister, Judy (Richard) Bechtel; brother, Jerry (Becky) Leibacher; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Hood in 1990; brother, James Leibacher Sr.; and infant siblings, John W. and Mary June Leibacher.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023, until the time of Elaine's funeral at 12 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Stacy Lauer-Scovanner presiding. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
