Elizabeth M. Smith, 96, of Sandusky, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Gaymont Nursing Center, Norwalk.

She was born July 30, 1926, in Sandusky, to the late Thomas and Mildred (Woodford) Claubaugh.

She was employed by the former Good Samaritan Hospital and Firelands Hospital as a LPN for over 26 years.

Elizabeth was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky, and enjoyed bowling, reading, crocheting, watching Gun Smoke and Big Time Wrestling, and playing cards.

She is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Charles) Moore of Norwalk; daughter-in-law, Nancy Smith of Sandusky; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Roy (Kathy) Claubaugh of Amherst; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Cecil Smith in 2003; parents; son, Ernest Charles Smith; grandson, Benjamin Moore; sisters, Eunice Miller, Rosetta Trimarche, Mildred Mack, and Beatrice Norcross; and brother, Thomas W. Claubaugh Jr.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, until the time of Elizabeth's funeral at 1 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
