Ellen L. Beier, 74, of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
She was born Aug. 14, 1949, in Fremont, to Frank and Helen (Jones) Zienta. Ellen was a 1967 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and received her degree from Bowling Green State University in Education.
Ellen married John J. Beier on April 29, 1983, at St. Cashmiere's Catholic Church. She was a teacher for Margaretta School District for 37 years. Ellen also was a substitute teacher for Fremont School District and retired in 2023 from Sandusky County Recreation Department. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Erie County Retired Teachers Association, and Life Scholars and Dinner Club at Terra Community State College. Ellen enjoyed volunteering at Hayes Presidential Center, reading, and was an avid sports fan.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 40 years, John J. Beier of Fremont; sons, Eric Beier of Newark, Ohio, and Kevin (Macy) Beier of Fremont; and grandchildren, Maxwell and twins, Addison and Jack.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ellen's family would like to give a very special thank you to Stein Hospice, Toledo ProMedica Hospital, and Elmwood for their love and care to Ellen.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, until the time of Ellen's services at 1 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, Ohio, 43420.
Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials can be made to Stein Hospice, Ellen's grandchildren in care of John Beier, or donor's choice.
