Castalia

Ernie L. Trapp, 76, of Castalia, passed away Thursday night, March 5, 2026, at The Bellevue Hospital following a lengthy heart condition.

He was born in Oak Hill, March 3, 1950, to Ernest and Mary (Evans) Trapp. He graduated from Margaretta High School in 1968 and was a conductor for Norfolk & Western Railroad, retiring in 1991. Ernie was a member of Bellevue Eagles and enjoyed going 4-wheeling and cruising in his convertible, frequenting all the local watering holes.

He is survived by his sons, Darren (Angie) Trapp and Chaun Trapp; mother, Mary Trapp; grandchildren, Chadd Trapp, Kenna Schmehl, Tyler (Sara) Trapp, and Darby DeLong; sisters, Carolyn (Charles) Weider, Barb (Jeff) Cornwell, and Jennifer (Randy) Swartz; brothers, Emmett Trapp and Jeff (Vicki) Trapp; and many nieces and nephews.

Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Trapp; sisters, Debbie (Gary) Ballard, Pam (William) Mooney; sister-in-law, Donna Trapp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
