Esther P. Zerman, 81, of Amherst and formerly of Wakeman, died suddenly Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Amherst Manor Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Sept. 12, 1942, in Elyria, to James P. and Esther R. (Miller) Zerman. She was a 1961 graduate of Clyde High School. Esther owned and operated Bark & Purr in Fremont for 30 years. She most recently retired from Voith Cleaning Services, where she worked at the Lorain Ford Plant.
Esther's survivors include her daughter, Kellie (Frank) Fowler of Oak Harbor; grandson, Seth O'Neal; and sister, Darlene Zerman of Clyde.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Jim Zerman, Jack Zerman, Sandra Collins, Christine Sterns, and Cindy Zerman.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024, with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Oak Harbor Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Clyde, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Humane Society of Ottawa County.

This is Essie´s beloved cat "Shorty". He was her constant companion. She will be missed as he truly loved Essie. Fortunately she knew Shorty would be well loved and taken care of by her nephew´s family.

Esther (Essie) was my cousin, but has always been like a sister to me. I loved her dearly and spoke with her each day around 6:00 pm no matter where I might be. As she lived alone and was shut in, it gave me comfort each time we talked to know she was doing well. Some days she could be quite cantankerous, but I was happy to be her sounding board to give her comfort and hope.
