Eugene R. "JR" West Jr., 47, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2024, at home.
JR was born Aug. 6, 1976, in Brooklyn, New York, to Eugene and Barbara (Jensen) West Sr.
JR graduated from Sandusky High School in 1994 and received a bachelors degree in pre-med from Bowling Green State University. He enjoyed art, helping others, decorating, traveling, skydiving, and taking pictures. He was the family historian and was in the process of starting a non-profit organization called Positive Outreach. His greatest joy was time spent with his family, especially his nephews.
JR is survived by his mother, Barbara West; two brothers, James "Jim" (Kim) West of Norwalk and Marc (Julie) West of Sandusky; and three nephews, Logan West of Castalia, Lane West of Sandusky, and Caden (Kayle) West of Washington State.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene "Gene" R. West Sr. in 2021; uncle, Robert Jensen; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.
