Floyd Righi Obituary

Floyd L. Righi

Oct 14, 1937 - Sep 23, 2025

Huron

Floyd L. Righi, 87, of Huron, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025, at his home surrounded by his wife and his children.

Born October 14, 1937, on Kelleys Island, the son of Louis and Josephine (Lombardi) Righi. He was a 1956 graduate of Sandusky High School. Floyd was a veteran who had served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps, having been stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a well-known entrepreneur, having owned several businesses in the local area for many years.

Floyd loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, but he will be especially remembered for his enjoyment of riding his motorcycles, fishing, wintering in Florida with his wife, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, American Legion Post No. 83 Color Guard, V.F.W. Post No. 2529 and Sandusky Orioles Club Nest No. 279.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary G. (Franchetti) Righi, whom he married January 9, 1960; his family, Debbe (Kevin) Fischbach of Grafton, Mark (Jane) Righi of Sandusky, and Dena (Charlie) McKillips of Sandusky; his six grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores (Harry) Perdue Sr. and Helen (Dean) Scheel, both of Sandusky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edith "Eda" Righi; two sisters who died in infancy, Ida and Darlene Righi; and three brothers, Guerino "Gene" Righi, Paschal "Pat" Righi, and Mario Righi.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2025, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Mass of Christian Burial for Floyd will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, September 27, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 83 and V.F.W. Post No. 2529. It was his wish to be cremated following services. Interment will take place at a later date at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Cancer Tees Me Off, 117 Marshall Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
