Frederick E. "Fred" Gibson, 85, residing in Port Clinton and Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at Avow Hospice in Naples, Florida.
Fred was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Clarksfield, Ohio, to the late Beryl and Ruth (Smith) Gibson.
Fred graduated from New London High School as a member of the 1954 class. He was a close friend and business partner of Bill Missler. They owned Missler-Gibson Contracting Corporation. Fred was a hard worker who was dedicated to his craft and enjoyed staying busy. He was able to retire early at the age of 55 and made the most of those years. Fred and his wife, Sandra, would spend seven months in Florida and five months in Port Clinton. Fred was a member of Eagles, Elks, Moose Lodge, and Bronson-Norwalk Conservation Club. He enjoyed being social and enjoying Florida beaches.
Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sandra (Barnes) Gibson, whom he married Oct. 1, 1960; children, Tamara Gibson of Port Clinton and Allen Gibson of Holland; and sister, Frances (Dick) Rieser of Ashland.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Russell.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, until the time of Fred's funeral at 12 p.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Burial will follow at Hester Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.
