Galen E. Polley, 79, of York Township, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at his son's home following a lengthy illness. He was born January 17, 1946, in Bellevue, the son of the late Geraldine Mae (Growel) and Robert Polley. Galen graduated from York Township School in 1964. He played basketball on championship teams while there. In 1968, he graduated from Bowling Green State University. Galen taught mechanical drawing and industrial arts for several years at Evergreen High School and later at Clyde High School. His agriculture and shop students built a house as a class project.

He left teaching to operate the family farm after his father passed away in 1975. Galen loved farming and worked as a farmer for most of his adult life. Galen will be remembered for being an independent soul and doing things his own way; his love of animals, especially the cows he raised. He loved everything about being a farmer in Ohio.

Galen is survived by his son, Dakota (Abigail) Polley; daughters, Erin Baker and Erika Polley; grandchildren, Walker, Emma, Audrey, Mason, Miranda, Nataleighann, and Alexus; and sister, Marlene (Ken) Wasson.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 1106 Castalia St, Bellevue. Private family burial will be at York Cemetery.
