Gary J. Ayers, 59, of Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, at Concord Care of Sandusky after a lengthy illness.

He was born Sept. 3, 1964, in Sandusky.

He was an U.S. Army veteran. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved playing video games, going on walks, word puzzles, board games, cards, muscle cars - especially Mustangs - and writing poetry (he is a published writer!). He loved spending time with his family and friends the most. He will be dearly missed.

Gary is survived by his children, Joey Ayers and Sarah Ayers; brother, Clyde Ayers Jr.; sister, Deanna Hamilton; stepsisters, Kelly Ayers and Tina (Bob) Miester; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; special niece, Ashley Ayers; and many other nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Sr. and Coella (Smith) Ayers; son, Brian; and nephew, Matthew.

Visitation for friends will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, until the time of Gary's funeral at 3 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. Ken Hiser officiating.
