Gary Lee Brainard, 86, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Huron, Ohio. He was born December 3, 1938, in Painesville, to Carl Brainard and Erma (Farren) Brainard.
Gary was a quality control and materials manager for Tenneco Automotive for many years. He worked internationally, with highlights including a trip down the Amazon to observe rubber extraction in Brazil, where he managed a manufacturing facility for two years.
Gary enjoyed farming, fishing, golf and playing chess. Among his fondest memories were traveling with family and friends. He and Margie walked the Great Wall of China and took an Irish whirl in retirement. They loved living on Lake Erie and sharing their beach with many generations of families.
Gary is survived by a daughter, Christine Davis; sons, Gary Michael "Mike" Brainard and Doug Brainard; grandchildren, Anne (Joe) Stormer, Luke Davis, Josh Davis, Katy (Sean) Capron, Max Davis, Lily Brainard, and Wilson Brainard; great-grandchildren, Kaley (Tavis) Sticka, Tyler Capron, Myra Stormer, Sabrina Davis, Alexis Davis, and Alivia Davis; and great-great-grandson, Boone Stika.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Margaret (Wilson) Brainard, in January 2024; his brothers, Max and Jack Brainard; and a nephew, Bryan Brainard.
Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m.- noon Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Spears-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 312 Eagle St, Fairport Harbor.
Celebration of life services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Fairport Congregational Church, with a meal following at the church for all family and friends.
Donations to your local cancer service organization or a local food bank would be appreciated.

Gary was my uncle and great guy he was. 60 yrs ago he used to take me to Browns football games at the old muni stadium. Always a fun and very interesting person could talk to you about anything. He will be sorely missed used by me and my family.
