Gary Rasmussen, 79, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Born October 18, 1946, to Carl and Louise (Stewart) Rasmussen, Gary grew up in Port Clinton.

He was a graduate of Port Clinton High School, class of 1965. He received his bachelor's degree from Ohio Northern University and then his master's degree from University of Toledo. Gary was very proud to be honored twice in the Port Clinton High School Athletic Hall of Fame-first as a member of the 1962 football team and later, in 1976, as a coach.

Gary dedicated 35 years to teaching at Port Clinton Junior High. He was also a former member of the Port Clinton Police Department, working as a reserve police officer and on the harbor patrol.

On June 29, 1973, Gary married Susan (Fulkert), and they were happily married for 52 years.

He is survived by Susan and their three daughters, Brooke (Travis), Leigh Anne (Jeff), and Jill (Eric). Gary was also a proud and loving grandfather to eight grandchildren, Will, Garrett, Delaney, Paige, Keegan, Everet, Carrick, and Genevieve.

Gary was most proud of his daughters and their accomplishments. He enjoyed countless years of watching tennis matches and dance recitals. He loved hunting, fishing, and watching football. Gary was a member of Colonial Club, Elks, Port Clinton Yacht Club and 3 o'clock club.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2025, Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, with a memorial service following at 11 a.m.
