Gary Keith Whitacre, 81, of Huron, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Admirals Pointe Rehab Facility.

He was born Sept. 7, 1942, in Elyria, to Earl and Mildred Whitacre.

Gary was a 1961 Elyria High School graduate and later dedicated many years of his life to the printing industry, finding joy and fulfillment in his work. Alongside his professional pursuits, he found great satisfaction in coaching Keystone sports, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of many young athletes. In his leisure time, Gary indulged his passions for hunting, fishing, boating, and cherished moments with his family. He created countless memories while pursuing these activities, always finding solace and contentment in nature and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Chuck and Lois Kern; brother-in-law, Ed Loescher; previous wife, Marion Whitacre; and infant son, Daniel Whitacre.

The Whitacre family will welcome friends and family to raise a glass to Gary from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Grey Hawk, 665 U S Grant St., LaGrange, Ohio, 44050.

Gary's family would like to extend their gratitude to Admirals Pointe for the exceptional care that they provided.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the KATS organizations (501c3), PO Box 744, LaGrange, Ohio, 44050. Proceeds will benefit Keystone's new softball field.

Thinking of all of Gary´s family. Sending love and hugs to all. This can a very difficult time for all of you. I went to high school with Gary. I met him when I was just 15. All the great times at the Hole in the Wall. On Lake Erie. We sure had fun. Briefly I helped care for Nick when Gary needed help. Nick you were a joy and the cutest kid ever. Gary was one of a kind. Always up for a good time. Everyone literally everyone loved Gary. Special thoughts to you Dianne. Much love to you. Linda Caughlin Friday

Dianne, we are very sorry to learn of Gary's passing. When I think of you two, I think of all the times at work you talked of your boat and how much you both loved spending time together on the boat. Cherish the memories. Sending thoughts and prayers to you and the Whitacre family. GOD Bless, Ron & Linda Willard

Gary and Di are so special to me- Lots of great conversations, advice and tons of laughs - usually followed with a fist bump from Gary. I am blessed to have known Gary, I believe he lived a great life. May you enjoy bottomless gin & tonics in Heaven and send some sunsets down to Di. You are already missed. RIP Dear Friend
Prayers to the whole family.
