George "Butch" Howard Allendorf, 76, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, February 23, 2025, surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
Butch was born January 9, 1949, in Sandusky to the late William "Bill" and Patricia "Pat" (Waldock) Allendorf.
Butch was a 1967 graduate of Huron High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Agriculture from The Ohio State University. Butch was the owner and president of his family's business, Sandusky Dressed Beef, for many years before retiring after a successful career with Hansen-Mueller Company. He was a proud member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity during college and remained active in various organizations throughout his life, including Sandusky Yacht Club, Sandusky Sailing Club, and Royal Wood Country Club in Naples, Florida. His greatest joy was being on the golf course at Plum Brook Country Club, where he was a lifelong member. He was an accomplished sailboat racer and winner of Sandusky Sailing Club Lyman Memorial "Sailor of the Year 1990." He was also an avid Ohio State football fan and cherished his time with his grandchildren.
Butch is survived by his son, August "Billy" (Katie) Allendorf; daughter, Morgan Allendorf; six grandchildren, George, Gus, Oliver, Leona, Charlie and Winston; fiancée, Kim Samstag; sister, Virginia (Jimmy Lee) Messenger; brother, Chuck (Diane) Allendorf; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his son, George "BJ" Howard Allendorf Jr. in 2003; and his twin brother, August William "Billy" Allendorf.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Wally Gilbert presiding. Private family burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.

I knew Butch from School. I remember stopping by his house briefly on graduation night. A few months ago, I said Hi to him at Kokomo´s when Rumors was playing outdoors.

Since I live out of state, I rarely get the opportunity to see some of my former classmates. The last time I saw George was at our last class reunion. He was kind, and we had a great conversation. It was nice to catch up. May he rest in peace, God Bless his family during this time of loss.

Riding school bus with him and his brother Bill. I was new to Huron and my first party in Huron was at the their house
