George H. Wood, 95, Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at Providence Commons.
He was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Sandusky, to the late George B. and Nina (Only) Wood.
He was employed by General Motors for over 40 years, retiring on March 1, 1988.
George was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sandusky, U.A.W. retirees, Senior Men's Fellowship, Car Coddlers Club, bowled in the Erie County Bowling League, former President of Perkins Booster Club, loved watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, and all of his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's high school sporting events.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Terry) Pitzer, Florida, and Sandy Jenkins New Franklin, Ohio; son, Craig (Darlene) Wood, Sandusky; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine in 2016; parents; sisters, Kathryn Kurtz and Virginia Rinker; brothers, Tom Wood and Bill Wood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will take place at a later date at Perkins Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or to Merry-Go-Round Museum. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
