Gregory "Greg" Martin, 68, of North Canton and formerly of Bellevue, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at The Aultman Hospital, Canton.
Greg was born Dec. 26, 1954, in Bellevue, the son of Eugene P. and Geraldine (North) Martin.
Greg served as a volunteer firefighter with Bellevue Fire Department for over 25 years. He worked as a service engineer for Stein/JBT and retired from Omar Associates. Greg was a fun-loving guy and was an avid Wednesday night volleyball league player for Downtown Lounge. He loved tinkering around in his garage, making sure each item was perfectly level and in place, and hosting garage parties under his neon lights, known as the "Two Door Tavern." He also enjoyed long rides on his Harley-Davidson and spending time in the sun anywhere near the water. Greg was a member of Eagles Aerie 490.
He married Laurie Myers on May 16, 1981, in Dover. She survives along with their daughter, Emily (Brian) Malinsky; son, Ross Martin; three granddaughters, Sloane, Quinn, and Nora, to whom he called "his girlie girls," and they bestowed upon him his favorite title, "Slampy"; and sisters, Paula (Jerry) England, Kathryn (Gerard Jendrezejak) Martin, and Sharon (Martin Persinger) Martin.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, until the time of Greg's memorial service at 4 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bellevue Fire Department.
