Herbert R. "Herb" Brooks, 94, of Clyde, passed away peacefully Friday evening, November 14, 2025, with his girls at his side. Herb was born November 27, 1930, in Palmer, Pennsylvania, the son of Mamie (Chrisson) and Thomas P. Brooks. On July 21, 1956, he married Bertha "Bunny" Kennersley, and she preceded him in death February 12, 2020.

He was a US Navy Veteran who served from 1948-1952 on the USS Monrovia. While serving in the Navy, he learned his trade as an electrician. After his service, Herb worked at Thompson Products (1952-63), NASA Plumbrook Station (1963-73), and Whirlpool until retiring in 1993. Known as a jack-of-all-trades, Herb offered his help to anyone who needed it. Herb took pride in his work and instilled his work ethic in his family. He was a member and very involved at First United Methodist Church in Clyde, and he enjoyed bowling in several leagues over the years.

Herb was the "BEST Daddy" to his three loving daughters, Kimberly Daniel of Marblehead, Kathy (Al) Mehlow of Fremont, and Kelly (Greg) Darr of Marblehead. "His girls" truly believe that God broke the mold! His three grandsons, Cole (Sarah) Daniel, Chris (Lindsay) Daniel and A.J. Mehlow; and great-grandchildren, Casen, Canaan, Cash, Colbyn, Reese and Cohen also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bunny, Herb was preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas R. Darr and brothers, Thomas, James, Kenneth, Glenn, and David.

Visitation for Herb will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St, Clyde. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the funeral home. Rev Sue Chidley will officiate. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde.
