Sandusky

James A. Gessner, 70, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, Jan. 11, 2024, at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

James was born July 22, 1953, in Sandusky, to Vincent and Donna (Meinert) Gessner.

James was employed at Ventra in Sandusky as processing technician for the past eight years and was previously employed for Canfield Hartley for 35 years as a truck driver. James enjoyed bowling, internet cafes, casinos, lotto tickets, and a cold Bud Light. But, his greatest joy was spending time with his family especially the grandkids.

James is survived by his daughter, Melissa Gessner of Sandusky; sons, Paul (Karie) Gessner of Sandusky and Jason (Lindsay) Gessner of Sandusky; adoptive daughter/niece, Serenity Griggs of Sandusky; grandchildren, Mason, Benjamin, and Kali; four sisters; four brothers; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.

Private family services will be conducted at a later date.

Groff Funeral Home & Crematory, 1607 East Perkins Ave., Sandusky, is assisting family with arrangements.

Those wishing to contribute to James' memory may do so to Sandusky USBC Junior Bowling Program through Star Lanes.
