James Glenn Walcher

James Glenn Walcher, 76, of Sandusky, formerly of North Fairfield, passed away from a recent illness Friday, February 28, 2025. He was born August 7, 1948, in Norwalk to the late Ralph and Alice (Williams) Walcher.

Jim was a graduate of South Central High School and attended The Ohio State University. He participated in baseball and basketball at South Central and was a member of FFA. He loved caring for his apple and peach orchards, and other fruits and vegetables on his farm. His pick your own pumpkins were a favorite among local residents. He was a member of the Ohio Potato Growers Association during his time on the farm. While working on the farm, Jim also was a foreman for Janotta & Herner. He then, along with fellow coworker, Jeff Fox, started Walcher & Fox Inc, a general contractor and metal building specialist. He retired in 2014, and enjoyed fishing around Lake Erie.

Jim is survived by his children, Brad Walcher (Jessica Grosswiler) of North Fairfield, Michelle (Bob) Shepherd of North Fairfield, and Lisa (Heath) Albert of Greenwich; grandchildren, Noah, Alivia, and Alaina Walcher, Madison and Mason Albert; his former wife, Kathy Reed of 36 years; siblings, Allen (Lucy) Walcher of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Nancy (Rick) Pettit of Greenwich, Carol (Ron) Tolliver of Greenwich, and Linda (Tom) Kramb of Spring, Texas.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Alice Walcher; and his brother, Doug Walcher.

Graveside service will be private.

My condolences to Michele, Brad and Lisa on the passing of your dad. He was a kind and easygoing man. I worked for him when I was a teenager and he was a very hard worker.
