James "Tyrique" Young

James Young (also affectionately known as Tyrique), 27, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 26, 2022.

James was a special, loving, and God-fearing young man, father, son, brother, and uncle. James was a 2012 graduate of Sandusky High School. While in high school, James excelled in football. James was a member of Second Baptist Church at the age of 6. He played the drums for several choirs. The late Pastor W. Benson Stephens and the Rev. Herman Robinson had taken James under their wings. He was baptized at the age of 12 by Pastor Stephens and in his teen years, Rev. Robinson took him into Acorn Ministries where he continued to mentor him.

James loved spending time with his family and especially his niece and nephew. James had a passion for music and had dreams of becoming a famous rap artist. James made a new connection with the Lord and was on the right path of changing his life here on Earth. The Lord loved him more and had other plans and now James is at peace.

He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories his mother, Telisha Stevenson-Fleming; father, James Young Jr.; grandparents, Debbie McKinney, Lutricia Bradley, and James Lee Young Sr.; siblings, Itai Yancey, Jame'z Young, Bryson Denney, and Jaylen Young; special sisters, Meah Staveskie, Iesha Hood, and Corizma Parker; special niece and nephew, Myla and Micah Staveskie; three other nieces; a nephew; special auntie, Tobias Johnson; three special uncles, Deonta and Mike Young and Sean Scott; two other uncles; four more Aunts; special friend forever and mother of his son, Miesha Dillard; and a host of other special relatives and friends.

Tyrique was loved and will be missed dearly.

James was preceded in death by his son, Josiah Malik Young; grandfather, Phillip Mitchell; and great-grandparents on his mother and father's side of the family.

Friends may call 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, until the time of Tyrique's funeral at 12 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling arrangements.
